I used to travel old-school style, with guidebooks in hand. Thumbing through pages to find the best places to stay, the closest restaurant, and all those must-see places that I marked with highlighters and post it notes. Guidebooks were bulky and identified me as a potential tourist-target, and would become outdated after I got home. Some of you more saavy travelers probably bookmarked internet sites and maps on your phones, and wrestled with finding ‘that file’ that outlined what you wanted to do and see that day.
In a world driven by apps, there’s a new kid on the block – a GPS-guided travel app called GPSMyCity. I am happy to announce that I am now a content contributor!

The articles on GPSMyCity are individual apps that you can download for free, allowing you to read the article offline from any location without needing an internet connection. Upgrading for a small fee extends that access with an offline map showing the points of interest from the article, and embedded GPS to help you navigate the city once you arrive there.
The travel articles at the end of this post are now linked to the GPSMyCity app as “Insider Tips.” The full articles are featured in the app on Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Download the app to your mobile device to read the article offline and create your own self-guided walking tour. The app works offline, so no data plan is needed when you are traveling abroad.
Upgrade for a nominal fee to convert the article to a GPS-guided article, or subscribe annually to access the full library of over 6500 guided city walks from over 1000 cities worldwide. I am already planning my next domestic trip using this app!
As a note of full transparency, my articles are monetized, so if you upgrade to a full GPS-guided article, it will put a couple of coins in my pocket while allowing me to walk you virtually through some of my favorite places : )
Enjoy!
